Registered with the state

What “registered” means

What this home's registration says.

  • What it means

Registered is the word the state uses for a small child care home like this one, with a group of up to 6 children. It is not the same as enrolling your child: that is something you do with us.

  • Who it is registered with

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS), through its OCDEL office.

  • Where you can look it up

The registration number is on this home's board and at the foot of every page. Ask us on the tour for the registration papers and we will show them to you.

A day at home

How a child spends the day at Zuleyka's

No clock-watching: each part of the day follows the children's pace.

  1. Early morning

    Step 1: Arrival

Each child arrives with their family at the door. There is time for a hug and for hanging the backpack on its hook.

Small coats and backpacks on low hooks by the front door
  2. Mid-morning

Step 2: Play at the table

Play dough, paint and blocks at the big kitchen table. The babies have a spot on the floor, next to Zuleyka.

A caregiver and four toddlers roll colored play dough at the kitchen table
  3. Around midday

    Step 3: Snack and lunch

Fruit in the morning and a hot lunch made at home. The children eat at the table, each at their own pace.

  4. After lunch

    Step 4: Stories

In the big armchair, with books in Spanish and lullabies Zuleyka learned from her mother.

  5. Early afternoon

    Step 5: Nap time

Babies sleep on their backs, in their own crib, with nothing else in it. The older ones rest on mats.

We go out to the fenced yard, with shade, water and sun hats. The low slide is the favorite.

How to enroll

  1. 01

    Step 1: Get in touch

  2. 02

    Step 2: Book a tour

  3. 03

    Step 3: Join the waitlist

If the group is full, we put your family on the list. When a place opens, Zuleyka calls whoever has waited longest first.

  4. 04

    Step 4: Register

Zuleyka gives you the enrollment forms and you fill them in privately: that is where your child's details, health and the people allowed to pick up go.

  5. 05

    Step 5: The first day

Bring a change of clothes and whatever your child sleeps with. We ask you to stay a little while so you can say goodbye calmly.
